Route Description
After 20+ years, I visited Hemu (禾木) again. Last time I came in summer, this time I come in autumn. Previous visit record is here. The changes are huge. It was used to be a small village with extremely limited tourist facililties. Now, it has developed into a very organized tourist attraction with beauitful scenary and abundant tourism supports.
1
This is the Hemu Tourist Centre. To enter the Hemu village, visitors have buy tickets at the tourist center. All visitors' cars and buses have to be parked outside the Hemu Tourist Centre. All the commune in the village is supported by free shuttle bus (區間車). Visitors just need to hop-in and hop-out the free shuttle bus for their destinations. Most shuttle buses are electric as far as I can see.
2
There are many inns in this Location 2. This is the inn we were staying overnight. Rooms are cozy and clean. Although Hemu is located in a very remote corner of Xinjiang, it has no short of electricity, cell phone networks, clean water, food and many daily supplies.
3
This is the Hemu river. This wood bridge is very old and is not open for visitors. A modern steel and concrete Hemu bridge is available for crossing the river.
4
We walked up to the Hadeng Viewing Platform (哈登觀景平台).
5
A view of Hemu village from above.
The viewing platform has a number of snack shops.
The hiking path is not a muddy path. It is a well-built boardwalk.
6
By taking the free shuttle bus to Birch Forest Station (白樺林站). We found a beautiful golden forest.
7
This is the Old House Station (百年老屋站) where you would find some old settlements preserved as a small museum.
What a beautiful afternoon.
8
This is the Food Street (美食街). It packs with visitors at night. Besides delicious food, there is night show as well. Restaurants are not limited in the Food Street. There are also restaurants in the inns area.
